Staff Spotlight – Ellen Muller

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we want to acknowledge the hard-working, smart, passionate & capable women we have working at Lawrence & Hanson.
The first person we are introducing is a customer and staff favourite, who is operating one of Lawrence & Hanson’s biggest branches in Caboolture, Queensland. Ellen is a multi-award-winning Branch Manager who has worked with Lawrence & Hanson for over 30 years. She is one of the most respected leaders within the business and is a pivotal part of the success through decades of branch management. We asked Ellen a few questions about what International Women’s Day means to her:

  • What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
I don’t normally think too much about it – I believe that you should not need a special day to be recognized for your achievements whatever they may be or what gender you are.
  • Who is a woman that inspires you & why?
Dolly Parton – came from a very humble background – she had a vision at a very early age of what she wanted to achieve and never lost sight of it , even being pushed into many directions that she wasn’t comfortable with. She made the decision to follow her own dreams and forge out a very Successful Solo and Movie Career without losing sight of her own identity.
Her humanitarian efforts throughout the decades and still continues today to give back to those who are in need. A true inspiration of what you can achieve if you have enough drive and ambition – it doesn’t matter who you are or what your circumstances are, you just need a vision.
  • What advice do you have for women entering our industry?
Stay true to who you are, be proud of all your achievements big or small / win or lose along the way. Always welcome encouragement, advice and be willing to take on any idea from others and be able to share your ideas. There are a lot more females in our industry today than 30years ago.
  • What makes you proud to be working for Lawrence & Hanson?
Over the many years of my career, I have worked my way through the company in various roles always with the ambition to succeed with integrity. Having always been given equal opportunity, challenges and support by many of my peers & customers. My results and contributions to the company and knowing that I give my all at the end of each day.
