“Walking the Walk” in Energy and Sustainability

As a business, we are ‘practicing what we preach’ and doing our part by upgrading Auslec/Lawrence & Hanson branches that have old inefficient lighting. Our aim is to roll this program out in all our branches with 90% of installations completed by local contractors. See our story on page 4 of The Electrical Contractor Magazine with all the energy saving products that we have selected for you to assist in making the right choice for your customers!

Here at Auslec/Lawrence & Hanson, we firmly believe in the products and technologies we supply. And in recent times, we don’t think there has been a better technology with immediate upside than LED lighting. That’s why we are undertaking an upgrade of our branches from old, inefficient lighting to highly efficient, cost saving and environmentally friendly LED lighting. As you read this issue of The Electrical Contractor, our NSW and Victorian branches have had their upgrades completed and the results have been simply exceptional! Each branch underwent an audit by lighting experts Specialised Lighting Solutions to establish the viability of an upgrade and the return on investment.

The stats don’t lie

Branch warehouses, showrooms, offices and bathrooms have said good-bye to 400w metal halide highbays and 36w T8 fluorescent troffers and battens and are now enjoying the benefits of highly efficient LED panels and LED battens.

Here’s a snapshot of the results:
  • Branches upgraded – 50
  • Cost of Product – $261,637
  • Install Cost – $146,038
  • Rebates/discounts generated – $211,210
  • Total nett cost after rebates/discounts – $199,129 (roughly $4,000 per branch)
  • Estimated energy saving PA for branches upgraded – $161,459
  • Return on investment for all upgrades – 14 months
