Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital

Project Description

The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (LCCH) is a new $1.1B, 19 level (including basements) Paediatric Care Facility for the children of Queensland. The LCCH is Australia’s largest and most technically advanced paediatric health facility and is a hub of the State Health Network and is the hub of Children’s Health Services in Queensland. LCCH has a total of 437 beds and a gross floor area exceeding 75000m.

The site has over 23500 Cat 6A S/FTP field outlets using Cat 7A cable and over 3700 OS2 fibre which enable a wide range of data communications including the provision of telemedicine, robotics, prosthetics, digitally-integrated operating theatres and obstetrics. Further, the site provides network connectivity through over 1100 wireless access points, patient entertainment, mobile duress, CCTV and nurse call also run over the Molex structured cabling network.

During the course of the project, Pacific Datacom worked closely with Programmed Electrical and the customer to manage logistics, supply and delivery – resulting in minimal disruption for the hospital staff and residents.

Programmed’s Project Manager Daniel Willis, “We worked closely on this important project for over four years to ensure that the outcome was technically sufficient to allow for the numerous functions required as part of the operations of a tertiary medical facility”.

As a result, Programmed Electrical Technologies QLD won the 2015 National NECA Award in the Voice/Data category for the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital project in Brisbane.
